Final Reflection

What is your vision? How are you going to utilize technology to empower the populations you work with?

I suppose the clearest answer I can give to these questions is that I envision myself using technology as a tool. What do I mean by "a tool"? I will embellish: "a tool" for learning, a tool for increasing the depth of comprehension, a tool to solidify a concept, increase student motivation, show students what they know, to show parents what their kids are capable of. A teaching tool.
However, technology is not to be used as a substitute for a curriculum. Using an iconic tool, such as a hammer or a screwdriver as an metaphor: the tool does not build a house, but helps the house to be built. Now substitute the hammer with technology. Technology does not teach a child, but can be a tool that helps a student learn. Learning, in itself, is empowering.
