You need to have students learning the basics AND have higher level thinking skills.
Technology is a tool- it does not REPLACE the teaching.
There comes a point where a student is perhaps not going to grasp a subject. How can be bridge the skill development so the student has access to higher level thinking and comprehension skills. At about 4th grade... you stop really learning to read and begin reading to learn. If you have a student that is not getting it, how do you aide? This is when technology can be brought in as a comprehension tool.
Toaster becomes "crumby"? you clean it! Same with your computers! Take a class to learn how to maintain your computer so that you know how to simple maintenance.
What do you do if you only have a couple of computers in your classroom? How can you make these two machines functional for you classroom.

It's not that you stop learning to read in 4th grade, it's that the use of reading as a learning tool increases dramatically.
